Another early start for a big drive today. We departed 8.15am and headed east on the Warrego Highway. Just outside the town, Mum pointed out the Roma Power Station she'd visited in late 2013. An uneventful drive - just a pretty straight road with hundreds of trucks. We stopped at Chinchilla for morning tea and then had a late lunch somewhere near Toowoomba. It was pretty much freeway driving the last couple of hours - Renee & Eamon were so excited when we drove past Dreamworld and Whitewater World.
A short while later, we rolled into the Gold Coast Caravan Park at Helensvale, only a few minutes from Movie World and Wet & Wild. It was 4.30pm and we'd covered about 500kms - probably the longest drive we've ever done in one day!
Once we set up, it was time to explore. Renee & Eamon haven't seen a jumping pillow on this trip yet, so that was the priority - followed about 30 minutes later by a request to visit the pool. It's a beauty with a great slide. What is amazing here though is the amenities block - it has an aquarium, piped music, chandeliers and is pristine and the highest quality we have seen in the last 3 years. I didn't think the camp kitchen could beat it, but it did with no less than 3 separate kitchens, multiple BBQs and tables bench seats - it's very new and quite unbelievable really for a caravan park.
Mum & Dad chilled out/cooked dinner/wrote this blog while Renee & Eamon enjoyed the outdoor movie (Alice in Wonderland) - finally we had dinner and a (relatively) early night as our plan is to visit Wet & Wild tomorrow.
