Having seen all the attractions over the last 2 days, we opted to depart Winton and start heading east to Barcaldine. We dropped into Longreach for a lovely lunch at the 'Yeast and West Bakery' and to get some shopping done - it's the biggest town we'll see for a while so we took the opportunity to pick up groceries and other bits and pieces down Eagle Street. A very interesting thing about Longreach is that all the streets are named after birds - even more interesting is that the roads running east to west are named after waterbirds, and the roads running north to south are named after land birds!
We passed through Ilfracombe a small town with an incredible Mile of Machinery down the main highway. Lots of tractors and farming equipment - in excellent condition and very nicely painted.
We arrive in 'Barky' as the locals call it, and pick a nice spot in the shady caravan park. Once that's done we head for a swim at the local swimming pool as the temperature today has been around 35 degrees. It's a beautiful balmy relaxing evening.
