There are 2 things in Broome that are only visible during very low tides and early morning, so we set our alarm for 6.30 am and went first to Gantheaume Point to explore the dinosaur footprints: the rocks were large, and very slippery but we eventually found 1 of the sets of footprints that date back over 120 million years! We also saw Anastasia's Pool, made by a former lighthouse keeper for his arthritic wife. Next stop was the 'Flying Boat' Wrecks over at Roebuck Bay on the other side of town. The wrecks are said to be 1km walk out on the mudflats so we actually didn't bother to go as the tide was starting to come in, and the crocodile sighting warnings also put us off.
We dropped in to the Post Office to get our delivery of mail, but the system has been down since Friday, and hasn't been resolved, so they can't distribute anything!
The Land Cruiser has a small mechanical issue, so we are leaving it at ARB in Broome for repair for the day, so we took it there, unloaded the bikes, and had a nice pleasant 5km ride back to the Resort, where we were all starving for breakfast - omelettes again!
Our next job was to find a caravan park for the next few days, as we are checking out of the Resort, and heading up to Cape Leveque without the van, then back to Broome for a couple of days. So we cycled around another few kms to the 3 nearby caravan parks, and decided on Palm Grove. It's just across the road from Divers Tavern, so we dropped in to book for dinner, and have a cool drink as it was already noon.
The rest of the afternoon we relaxed around or near the pool. Mum had a cocktail, while Day had a Massage at the Chahoya Spa. Dinner at Divers Tavern was great - Eamon had sticky ribs, Renee had a nice duck/noodle dish, Mum had salmon, Dad had fish.
