Mum & Renee woke at 6.30 to meet Ella at the beach for Bootcamp @ 7am. Not sure what they (ie, Mum) were thinking. Renee loved it though! They met Dad & Eamon at breakfast and 3 of us enjoyed yummy omelettes with the lot. The day was pretty much spent in or near the pool. Renee & Eamon joined some other kids and Ella in some basketball games in the morning, and Mum had a 1 hour pedicure around lunchtime at the Chohoya Spa - she came back with lilac toenails to match her havaianas.
An activity we'd been talking about for a few weeks was finally here - a camel ride. At 4.40pm we walked down to the beach where a line of about 16 camels from Red Sun Camels were sitting patiently. Dad & Eamon were allocated to Jerry, while Mum & Renee had Kabul. We sat on our camel and each one gently stood up and 'the train' started walking northward along Cable Beach. It was quite comfortable and the camels walk about 5km per hour, so our guide on foot was able to walk alongside and tell us about our camel, and take photos using our cameras. It was a lovely evening and great sunset as we have become used to. After an hour's long walk along the beach and back it was time to alight our beasts, and they got a carrot from each of us. Definitely a highlight of our time in Broome!
The annual Shinju Matsuri 'Festival of the Pearl' Closing Ceremony and Fireworks was on tonight: there was live music at the beach on our return from the camel ride. We had booked a table at the Resort's Sunset Bar & Grill so had a great meal with excellent music in the background, and at 8pm the fireworks began directly in front of us - loud, long and a fantastic end to the day.
