Well, the weather certainly has changed over the last 12 hours! We woke up to not a breath of air, and the temperature climbing by the minute. We packed up, and departed the lovely Cactus Beach on our way to Venus Bay. It was a slow 21km back out to Eyre Highway - the road seemed to have deteriorated in 2 days! A highlight was a ski boat with a knee boarder on the back at a small lake - not something we expected to see at all. At Penong we spent some time filling up with petrol, putting tyres back up etc - it was so hot - perhaps around 39degrees already.
We drove onto Ceduna - a lovely little spot where we filled up the water tanks, visited the information centre, got some morning tea at a nice bakery, and shopped at Foodland for supplies. Temperature was around 40 by then so pretty hot. Our next stop was at Streaky Bay - again a nice little place: it has a replica of the largest shark ever caught by rod & reel - about 5 metres, so Renee & Eamon stuck their head in the mouth!
We arrived at Venus Bay around 5.30pm followed very closely by the Prelc's and what a beautiful spot it is. While today was very warm this evening was balmy, still and with almost a full moon - we went out for a swim near the jetty and to the pontoon and had a late dinner in the great camp kitchen followed by a show by all the children - MC'd by Eamon the comedian, with a hip-hop performance by Renee & Zoe, and a great drum performance by Sam. Still confused with the time changes we had an early/late night ready for an exciting day tomorrow at Baird Bay.
