A lazy morning to start 2015, then we rushed to Cape Borda Lighthouse for the 12.30 Guided Tour. It was only 60kms, but the road was very corrugated in parts. The Lightstation sits upon the cliffs overlooking Investigator Strait. The place was really interesting - the museum has great artifacts, and the globe they use in this lighthouse costs $1000 and lasts for 6 months. Most other lighthouses use a $1 globe. The reason we rushed for this particular tour was because at the end of it the guide fires a cannon - it was very exciting and quite loud.
We visited the Andermel Marron Farm where there are hundreds of them in holding tanks (they're from the yabbie family). We enjoyed tasting the Two Wheeler Creek wines, and had a magnificent lunch at the Marron Cafe - beginning with crackers and smoked barra and wasabi dip, followed by a Poachers Platter that had marron, prawns, scallops, salt & pepper squid, fruit, salad ciabatta garlic & herb bread and 3 locally made dipping sauces.
We dropped into Parndana for some supplies, headed north to Stokes Bay, and had a lovely swim in a secluded beach area beyond some huge boulders - lucky the guide from Seal Bay told us about it, as you wouldn't know it was there! The temperature is starting to rise, so the water was refreshing, and the natural rockpool was great for Renee & Eamon to practice their gymnastic routines.
Finally, the day ended with a large Koala walking around the caravan park and climbing trees to find some dinner while we all took photos of him - he was very cute. While Dad & Mum cooked dinner, Renee & Eamon played badminton, which they are getting quite proficient at!
