The day started at Kelly Hill Caves - an underground tour of the limestone formations with 4 chambers to visit. The 1 hour tour was pretty informative - the usual stalagmites, stalactites, curtains and helictites (our favourite) abounded. Very interesting was the May Hike scenic route to the Show Cave Entrance, via the 'Original' Cave Entrance where visitors had to scale a 5 metre ladder!
Morning Tea was spent at a lovely little place called the Rustic Blue Gallery & Cafe - a quaint place with lots of figurines made out of various metal parts, and a lovely garden. We dropped into Point Ellen at Vivonne Bay for a look - nice little hamlet with a few holiday houses.
Major highlight of the day though was Sandboarding and Tobogganing the sand dunes at Little Sahara. Renee was a natural, and Eamon caught on pretty quickly. Dad was keen to try it and went pretty well with a bit of persistance. Mum was chicken but eventually had a go and was ok as well. We all used the toboggan and that was great fun too. The dune was so steep - Renee was fine as her running training includes dunes, but Dad, Mum & Eamon struggled each time walking back up for another run!
Our final destination for the day was Seal Bay, where we joined a guided tour on the beach up close (well, about 30m away) to the Australian sea-lion! The guide advised us to stay close together which made us a little nervous. The tour was really interesting and there were about 100 seals actually lazing around, swimming, mucking about, etc during our time there.
New Year's Eve was very quiet at the caravan park - with no TV reception we had only the radio to help with the countdown - we were probably asleep about 10 minutes after midnight!
