Our last day in Wellington consisted of a tour of the Wellington Parliament Buildings (educational ey?) and one last big night out before getting the ferry at a ridiculous time the next day. On the ferry, we were knackered so spent most of the trip sleeping, but managed to drag myself up to top deck to take in the views and I'm glad I did because they were incredible. When we arrived in the South Island we got our bus to Nelson, where we spent the day doing a walk to the very centre point of New Zealand. In Nelson we stayed in a 'Flashpackers' which was really nice- given a massive roast dinner which was amazing and had a beer tasting night!! We got up on the morning of the 15th to find that there wasnt enough room on the bus for all of the group we want to stick with all the way through, so we dedcided that splitting up wasnt an option (cute hey?) and that we'd all leave Nelson on the 17th and use the days to chill out a bit and slow us down so we didn't get down to Queenstown too quickly. These days involved plenty of sleep and movies, boys days and billy getting his cartledge pierced!! From there we had an overnight stop in Westport where we got to know some of the new guys on our bus and moved on the next day to Mahanapua, where we were to stay in a place renowned as the 'Poo Pub' that was run by an 85 year old ledgend called Dennis who hosts a massive fancy dress party for us. So we all stopped off at a charity shop on the way to get our outfits. The theme was supposed to be Peace, Love and Happiness but all the guys pretty much ended up looking homosexual/like women/both... But it was a hilarious night and we were even given a massive Steak meal by Les (notice how excited i get when I actually get to have proper meals...hahaha)
From here we moved onto Franz Joseph, stopping at some amazing lakes and blowholes on the way. Theres so much crazy, amazing scenery here! In Franz Joseph we did a full day hike up the Franz Joseph Glacier which was pretty hard work considering exercise has been minimal since travelling, but definately worth it, was such an incredible experiance.
We are now in Wanaka where we are spending the night before heading down to Queenstown where we have booked in to do our bungy jump which I am bricking it for!! Queenstown is supposed to be awesome and one of the highlights of the whole of New Zealand so we're all really looking forward to that!
Anyway nearly time up, will try and update in some point in Queenstown!
Love to everyone xxxxx
