Nervous Turkey!
As Queenstown is known for its winter sports its a good place for Charlotte to learn how to ski and Matt to practice. The bus ride up to Cardrona resort was an experience. The driver explained to all the passengers that he was new to the job and was being assessed as part of his training. This became clearly evident. At one point we were driving uphill when after a huge crunch of the gearbox we started to reverse. Not what you need on winding mountain roads with no edge protection. The weather today is known as a "bluebird" by the locals, which means not a cloud in the sky. EPIC! As all the dudes say. We managed to book some ski lessons for dirt cheap (£20 for 4 hours), so we both decided to do the beginner lessons. It became clear that Matt was too advanced for the lesson so he did his own thing and Char was top of the class. After the first lesson it was clear that Char was a natural, so we ditched the second lesson and headed for the slopes. This was much better as we were able to just practice rather than wait for everybody else to catch up in the lessons. We made a error when booking the lessons as the lift pass we had only let us on the slopes for one hour, at which point Charlotte was tired out and Matt went to meet the Kiwi Ex gang for his last two runs. The actual time spent on the slopes was disappointing, however, one good thing came out of today...... Char has the skiing bug.
This means one thing.
Another day tomorrow with a full day pass.
It's safe to say that the antics of the last week have taken their toll on everybody and after a day skiing nobody was up for going out. Hes seemed so kind and helpful as she offered to wash up for everyone, so Matt offered to dry. However, we should have known better. She made drying the dishes particularly hard today as she filled everything with water and left it on the side. Even the plates were brimming. This girl is hilarious!
We sat listening to music and chilling with Johannes, Hes and Emma for the rest of the night.
