So yesterday, I had my first day off work in a good 9 days or so. As it was a week day and everyone was at work, I took advantage of being able to do nothing all day and spent the majority of it sprawled out on the floor in my jammies in front of a map of Australia. My friend and I haven't had much time to plan the actual "being in Australia" part of our trip in between exams, working, socialising and tying up loose ends at uni. Next thing we knew, it was half way through the summer holidays and we still hadn't planned anything!
So far, the plan goes like this - fly to Oz. Travel a bit. Find a job. And that's it! So I had the map in front of me, two guide books and my laptop with tabs open on travel websites, job websites, hotel and hostel recommendations and various activities I'd love to do!I'll post a couple links at the end :)
We know we don't want to stay in Sydney first thing as we reaaalllyyy want to be in Sydney for NYE and so probably will be there Nov/Dec/Jan and find a job there for their summer holiday period. We are thinking of heading south first, after staying about two weeks in Sydney when we arrive. Perhaps Melbourne or Adelaide?Find a job there for two months then head back up to Sydney. After that, I like to think we shall head up the East coast, passing the Great Barrier Reef, do some surfing, maybe get a job at the beach and then at some point end up in Cairns or even Darwin. Olivia will then be heading back home for about four weeks end of April for family things. It will be winter in Oz so I think I will want to be in the warmest place possible (hatehatehatehatewinter) and with the lowest lows of 10 degrees in winter and highs of 30 degrees all year round, Darwin is looking like a strong contender!Maybe find a job there whilst Olivia flys home and if I really like, maybe stay there for a while! And after that...well, it's hard enough planning the first 6 months, so lets not get too ahead of ourselves just yet!Anything could happen, we could meet anyone and could literally end up anywhere in Oz. Sounds like one hell of an adventure to meeee :D
Anywaayyyyy, just writing some thoughts down for a general plan!Below I'm posting some links to a couple cools things I've found in Oz that I'd la la love to do!Check them out, don't know how realistic some of them are but hey, I can dream.

http://taronga.org.au/roarandsnore - Sleep over in Sydney Zoo!I'm such a child but it sounds like so much fun!Wake up with the wallabys and Sydney Opera House.

Also, I know nothing about wine so it looks like a pretty good way to learn :)
http://www.nomadsworld.com/productdetail.asp?backpack=cairns+adrenaline+tours&grunt=s200r2303 - Don't know how realistic this is as I hate rollercoasters but..this looks crazy and so do-able!A swing through the rainforest..errr amazing!
