Ok so this is gonna be quick as I'm stealing wifi from the hotel!its 120 Hong Kong dollars which is ridic expensive for a short time!
I met the BUNAC group at Heathrow at 8am on Thursday, and got all my flight details. It was a bit awkward at first, asking people their names and if they were going to Oz or NZ but once we'd got through security and into duty free, grabbed some breakfast and sat down, everyone was chatting away.
It was a loooong 12 hour flight but there was so many movies to watch and people to talk to so it went pretty fast. We sat in alphabetical order (like primary school!) so I sat in between Tori and Megan. Both seemed pretty nice :). We landed in HK at 7am and met our rep in the airport. She was this really cute little Chinese woman who kept telling us random facts like how to spell her name and that HK airport has two terminals (named one and two haha). We got on a coach to the hotel but were not allowed to check in. We left our bags in what we were told was a "safe" place but was actually part of the hotel garage and some yellow netting over the bags!It was funny but definitely not a safe place!
A couple of us headed out to downtown HK to check it out then decided to go visit a huge Buddha on a mountain at the edge of HK. We had queue jump tickets and once we saw the massive queue we were so grateful to Leyona (cute Chinese guide lady) for getting them...till we went through the ticket booth and saw an even larger queue! It was so hot and we were so tired but we went anyway. There was this cool cable car you had to get on to get up the mountain, which we thought was this 5 min ride, but turned into this beautiful ride for a good half an hour with views over HK and the harbour. There were about ten of us together and we explored the little village together before heading to the base of the Buddha. There were quite a lot of older Chinese ladies praying, shuffling up every two steps and kneeling down. There looked to be a good 100 or so steps! It was a really cool thing to see (the Buddha, not the old Chinese ladies) and about 6 of us climbed all the way to the top.
We made our way back down with the cable cars after some funny drama with people losing their tickets and took the subway back to the hotel. By then we'd been up 24 hours and were shattered! We checked into the hotel (really nice, swimming pool with fountains, guards on the doors kinda place) and agreed to meet at hotel reception at 7pm. I'm sharing a room with a girl called Dee from Colchester and we decided to have quick shower and nap, setting an alarm get up for later. Well, 3 hours later... it was almost 8pm and we were still asleep!Jet lag! We checked out the hotel then together headed out to find some food as the ones who had made it at 7 had gone for dinner. We found a 7/11, stocked up on water and crisps and got back into bed! A couple other girls came over as they hadn't made it out either and then we all went to bed - what an exciting night haha got a well deserved sleep though!
Ok I've run outta time, more later!Saturday includes a boat trip, a light show, a real Chinese dinner and some live frogs in a box!

Debbie So how was the boat trip? Here waiting in the train terminal in cold Stockholm. Only taking the plane in the evening so planning, after a coffee break, to get out and see the shops again. Seen the sights already and are travel weary! Been to Helsinki which was interesting but rainy and grey. Happy to have seen it but not going back to Scandinavia in a hurry! Have a good flight to Australia. Met up with somebody who is planning same things as you? Not sharing with Scottish girl? Lots of love mom and dad
