We arrived in georgetown on friday 13th and nothing went wrong - phew! We took the ferry from Langkawi and had heard about a million horror stories about it and how awful it is during the monsoon but it was fine! They showed two extremely weird chinese films and I was worried I would have nightmares but apart from that it was quite a good crossing.
We stayed in a tune hotel and it was a novelty to have such a nice shower!! We met two really nice english girls at dinner and went for (non-alcoholic) drinks with them whilst sheltering from the ridiculously heavy rain.
The next day we had a little explore and looked around the buddist temples and colonial buildings and I dragged Becca to a big colonial house which had just been restored called 'Suffolk house'! It was built by a famous brit who came from suffolk! We had a cold drink there and as we settled down on the sofas the waiter told us how they had had to remove a viper a couple of days before.................
We met up with the same girls again for dinner and had some traditional murtabak which is like a weird pancake thing that tastes good!!
