Woke up super early to leave at 6.45am. So early that we were given a packed breakfast of juice apple ham and cheese bread roll and museli bar. Was soo tired. We headed off to drive to Pompeii and drove for an hour and a half before service stop. Didn't want to get of but thought toilet night be a good idea- another toilet over here where they don't have toilet seats- weird. We kept going for an hour and a half before reaching Pompeii and going on our walking tour straight away. Steve told us the City is practically owned by the mafia and each of the 30 or so families gets paid by restaurants and things to be protected so we had to eat at certain places and park in certain places. The walking tour was good but different to what I expected- I had been told their were bodies in the seats they died in covered in the lava and what not but there wasn't. we saw a few bodies they had on cases that they covered in a shell before the body disintegrated. It was interesting to see the buildings from so long ago though. 79AD is ages and it's hard to imagine the people who walked there. It was also weird to see the brothels and pictures o peniss as signs around the town. They had pictures of what position was offered in certain rooms- can't believe they survived a volcano. There was also graffiti on the wall that apparently translated to 'so and so was here' funny how people still write that today. Also interesting that they used to graffiti then- I for some reason had in my mind that everyone older then Fred had everyone being respectful and nice and friendly. We had lunch after at the place they told us too and went and looked at some stalls and waited for the bus before getting back on. we continued driving for about an hour before reaching the ferry terminal to ferry to Corfu. We got aboard about 6pm and ate some dinner an explored the ship Before using the wi-fi. We had to wait till 8pm till the ship left and then had a 9 and a half hour boat ride.
