Still here in Davos. The weather here has cleared up enough so that I now can go out to ski. The snow is light and soft. I skied until noon; then I went on a sled ride. On the ride, I saw what looked like a Bernese Mountain Dog. When I got closer my mouth dropped; it was a Greater Swiss Mountain Dog! Back in Evergreen I have one, and now here in Switzerland, I've seen one in its home-land. The Greater Swiss Mountain Dog ( or Swissy) is an ancient breed that came from Roman mastiffs, when the Roman Empire invaded Switzerland. The Swissy was mostly used to pull milk-carts to other villages, but they were also used to take care of the farms and children when their parents were gone. They earned the name of the "Poor Man's Horse". But when horses came along, the breed fell out of the job, By the turn of the century, Swissies were almost extinct. Thankfully they survied. The breed is very RARE; so help them return.
