WOW! It's been a while since we've updated our blog! It took us a little bit too long to be posting some blogs again, but WE ARE BACK! So much has happened, it's crazy. Let's see where we have left off…
STUDY ABROAD FAIR
This is a very funny story to tell you…the study abroad fair. It was a fair where many international students were asked to represent their country. Why? To inform and encourage UofM (University of Memphis) students to study abroad themselves. And why is this so funny? Because we (of course) represented Holland and only a handful of students were able to identify where our country was. The usual response? "Amsterdam is in Holland?" Uhh, yes!....No, Amsterdam is not a country and no, Holland is not a city…and definitely not a city IN Amsterdam. Haha! Next stop: "Is smoking weed REALLY legal in Holland?" Yes. "So, do Dutch people smoke a lot of weed?" Not really.
The Dutch seemed to have made a very great impression indeed! Too bad…but anyway, besides the fact ourUniversity of InHolland school was messing up with giving us no material to hand out, we took in charge ourselves by attracting people by being enthusiastic and talk about our country. We did this with our dear American friend Donald, who studied last semester at our school. It was great fun and we had free food, what does that mean? PIZZA! Anyways, Donald and Jesper came up with some good ideas and one of it can be found on a picture which will be up within 48 hours as we will put a lot of pictures online by then.
THE LEGENDARY B.B. KING
After our great Nashville adventure (see next blog for story), we almost forgot about our concert on Monday, September 27. The legendary B.B. King was to perform in his own club/café on Beale Street. The club was not too big and we bought tickets standing room only, which meant we had to stand the whole night. Oh well…if we get to see B.B. King perform, why not?
After an amazingly entertaining performance of B.B. King's support act, it was time to first sing B.B. King a happy birthday song, because his birthday had only been a little over a week ago. Can you believe this man turned 85 and is still performing on stage? Well, performing…I think he only performed 5 songs and talked his way through the performance, which is totally understandable :) Still, it was quite special to see this blues legend on stage and still getting the ladies go crazy! His band played a lot and did a lot of solos during the concert as he did some himself as well. Just think about it…being at the famous city Memphis, TN in USA on the famous Beale Street being in the famous club of B.B. King were the king of blues is doing his thang (should we mention more famous things? Don't think so!)…now, if that ain't an experience to remember? WE DON'T KNOW WHAT IS! :)
Just a quick update to let you guys know we haven´t forgotten about you :) Next blog: our trip to Nashville, TN!!! Check back soon!
