We've farwelled the farewells and are on our way. The final weigh-in came to 11kg, which includes two of the following; cycle gear, shorts, singlets, t-shirts, underwear, shoes, long-sleeved shirts, dresses and socks. There's a helmet, cycle shoes, iPad, chargers, first aid kit, spare tubes, tyre levers, pump, spokes, cable ties, suncream, maps of France and Italy, toiletries, towel and laundry wash. Everything is lightweight, quick-dry and can be worn running, riding, to a cafe or out for dinner. It's packed in large clear, snap-lock travel bags to save space and to make the pack-and-go as easy as possible. Anything we don't have we don't need. There's something satisfying about applying a military precision to packing and travelling. There's no bells or whistles just liberating efficiency. Besides, as I enjoy telling Wobbly Wheels, you pack it, you carry it. Wonder if he's got that full-sized Calvin Klein cologne with him this year?

Carly This is just about my dream honeymoon...only I'm so slow on a bike it'd probably be quicker for me to run rather than ride. Maybe you could adopt me & I could be your third wobbly wheel... I'm not averse to slavery, just as long as there's a vino in it at the end of the day...I could be your sherpa? Your support vehicle?? I want in on this fairytale damn it!
