Hello again everyone
We only had a short ride to get to surfers paradise from Byron. It was a nice 2 hour journey up the coast. We weren't looking forward to going back to dorm life especially as they only had a fan and the room was tiny. We arrived late afternoon at budds backpackers it looked nice from the outside and just a ten minute walk to the beach.
Once we went to check in we had a spot of luck ,the woman upgraded us to a double which meant we weren't in a dorm so that made us so happy. It got better we had payed for three nights but were staying 4 and they forgot to ask us for the extra night so we got a night free. Great start to our time in surfers. We didn't do much that day just got our stuff unpacked and done the usual trip to Coles supermarket to get some food for dinner. After a fantastic sleep with no one snoring or putting the light on we were refreshed and ready to see what surfers had in store for us. When we were in Byron Paula gave us a load of vouchers offering various deals like 25% off stuff and free food. One of the tokens we had was a free game of mini golf so I decided we would go and play that for a laugh. See how good Lauren's eyes actually were.
It happened only to be a ten minute walk along the beach to get to king putt putt. We got a choice of three courses we could play Lauren for some reason wanted to dive straight in and play the hardest one they had . It was fine by me I had it in the bag.........well I thought I did anyway. This will make you giggle the first hole was pretty straight with a slight dogleg. I went first and the Lauren went and she swung it back as it she was trying to break the golf ball in half. It flew off and hit a rock before flying behind her 40 feet I couldn't stop laughing. After retrieving her ball she went again and with a more gentle approach she found her control. It was pretty close all the way up to the 16th within a shot of each other but it all went wrong for me on that hole where I hit a 14 on one hole. I had the worst luck and was getting so annoyed anyway she won over the 18 holes by a few shots. For an extra 5 bucks we got to play the other 2 courses so we did that aswell so it was an epic 54 hole battle. Overall I won by three shots but Lauren was happy with her efforts. I told her not everyone can win hahahahahahahahaha.
We chilled out the rest of the day on the beach with an ice cream watching the waves crashing in. Even though this place was called surfers paradise it was far from that the sea was so so rough and within being on the beach for more than a couple of hours we saw three people having to be saved out at sea. We defo weren't going to be surfing here.
We did much of the same for the next couple of days just sitting on the lovely beach taking in the sights. We walked for a good hour one way along the beach and it was never ending just went on for as far as you could see. We went and experienced the 7d cinema it was really cool. It was only a ten minute short film we watched the wall of china. The graphics are somthing else and the movements and smells really bring it to life.
We had been told that you must go out one night in surfers as it's meant to the party place of oz, so we did some bar crawl thing. They took you to 5 places and you got a free drink in each place. We also got a free game of bowling aswell. We had a really good night and met a couple from hull doing the same trip as us but instead they were travelling north to south. We spent all night with them and it was nice to talk to the same kind of people doing the same things as us.
Brisbane
So on our route up the east coast we decided we will take a stop at Brisbane just for one night. We got here at a reasonable time of 11 so we had all day and night in the city. We were actually meeting one of our friends from home who is also currently in Brisbane aswell. We had to walk to our place which was called Bunk hostel. The shuttle service was out of use so we had a good half hour walk with our rucksacks. It brought back memories of Thailand when we were searching for street names and arguing what way we were meant to be going. All a good laugh when you arrive in the end though. When we got there we dumped our bags got changed and headed to the CBD to meet our friend to see the sights of Brisbane.
The city was a lovely place with some nice buildings the town hall was huge and some nice cathedrals . The sun was out in full force which helped as we ventured down to south bank where they have made a lagoon and some sand as a beach. It overlooked the river which went through Brisbane nice and quiet so we got a coupe of ciders in and relaxed down there for afew hours. We went and had a look at the wheel which was cool before going for a Mexican for dinner. The day went really quickly for us. It was a short quick visit to Brisbane but a nice one aswell . We now head up to noosa where we will be catching the end of the surfing competition. I'm really looking forward to that as I'm now a surf dude haha. We stay in a hostel for two nights on the beach which is called Halse lodge before getting to stay with my mums friends dean and Caroline for afew more days . Were really looking forward to getting back out of hostels already haha.
Keep you all updated soon guys
