So when we last wrote, we were just about to catch our bus to agnes water, the town of 1770. During our bus journey, it rained, and rained and rained some more. It literally did not stop.
We arrived around seven in the evening, and guess what it was still raining! We all got absolutely soaked getting our bags off the coach and on to our shuttle bus to our hostel. Our hostel, southern cross was about a five minute bus ride from town, and was situated in twelve acres of land. That night we had planned to meet our friends for drinks, but the weather was too bad and our hostel was about a thirty minute walk away. Further there wasn't even a pub or a bar in the town, it was literally so small, with one shop, one restaurant. Lee said it reminded him of heartbeat!
The next day we had planned to do our scooteroo tour, unfortunately due to the bad weather, yes it was still torrential rain, it was cancelled. We caught the hostel shuttle into the town to do some food shopping and have a look at the beach, and ended up getting soaked again! Whilst we were waiting under shelter, a local started chatting to us, it said he was an aboriginal and has just come out of prison!! As soon as the rain stopped we made a quick escape and headed back to the hostel. We spent the afternoon playing ping pong, lee is beating me 12 games to 3, I am sure I can catch up! That night we met our friends Jo and chris for dinner and a catch up, which was lovely.
The next day we finally woke up to blue skies which was a relief. Lee spent the morning surfing, as it is the last spot on the east coast you can surf. He was gutted it would be his last time, he has really enjoyed it! Then fortunately in the afternoon, our tour was on! This was the only reason we had come to agnes water in the first place.
The tour is voted as one of the top five things to do along the east coast, I wasn't looking forward to it that much, but it was something lee really wanted to do. When we arrived we had to put on leather jackets with flames on and matching helmets, it was absolutely boiling and lee couldn't stop laughing at me! We were then told to put fake tattoos on, like real a bad ass bikers! We had to do a practise lap, and you guessed it lee was first out and in the queue to hit the road, leaving me behind! I managed to crash into a haystack, which was hilarious as the girl in front of me broke really suddenly so I swerved to miss her. Lee knew before he turned around that it had to be me. I soon got the hang of it and managed to get out the practise lap!
So we were on the road, it was a round trip of 75km and we both had such a laugh. Lee was right at the front going as fast as he could whilst I stuck towards the back. We saw hundreds of kangaroos and some lovely scenery. We stopped by the beach to watch the sunset which was beautiful before heading back. Lee was really impressed that by the end I was going really fast and was actually going straight. It was really enjoyable and something different to do!
We then went back to the hostel to cook some pasta (we live on that) and have showers before heading for our overnight bus to airlie beach. For the past couple of days, a lot of the buses had be cancelled as the one road into 1770 had flooded. We were so worried we would get stuck there another night and were ready to leave to somewhere a bit more livelier. Fortunately our bus made it, although an hour and a half later than expected. We spent the night trying to sleep in our seats and arrived in airlie beach bright and early the next morning, ready to meet our friends and for the birthday celebrations to commence!!
