Our last day is spent at Tarangire National Park 75 miles SW of Arusha, the park covers 1096 sq miles.

This is the place for Elephant (but not much else to be honest, at this time of year anyway). There were some quite big herds though and we were able to see them bathing and eating the bark from the Baobab trees from which they get minerals in the dry season.
On the way to Tarangire we'd stopped to visit some Boma Maasai in their village. We were treated to a traditional song & dance, a look in their mud hut homes and a walk to the school. 2 walled rooms built of mud-brick without a roof !
They still live a semi-nomadic lifestyle, herding their cattle (young boys are sent out to do this almost as soon as they can walk), but are being encouraged to cultivate more rice & vegetables these days.
It all seemed pretty genuine and was a great experience.
