After Eugene and being on the road for a minute, & swapping out some crew members, (now 6, instead of 7 beings aboard), there was a much needed trip to the woods! I couldn't be more excited for a bit of fresh air and a break from the recent happenings.
My adjustment to this lifestyle still brand new to me, I was a wee bit on edge. My nerves high and my attitude easily disturbed.
I very much needed some space and fresh air near the peaceful sound of running water nearby.
I spent much time reading and writing and hanging out, somewhat away from the others. We also had the time to take down the big packs from atop the van, meaning I got fresh clothes and access to new projects!
We were able to spend a few days out there and it was great... Mostly.
Although a mishap occured that I learned from, having to do with my road cat, Miss Kitty! She also was fairly overwhelmed and still adjusting to being on the road constantly, and no, she did not particularly like the city at all. I decided though that she had done well staying close and since the 2 dogs were there, I figured it was harmless to let her wander for a little while and let her loose. Make-shift harness and leash left on.
But when she came-a-wandering back, to my distress, she had no makeshift harness, no leash. And she had a good couple hundren small spurs attached to her coat! Irritated and deteremined, I went to work. She hated the combing process and I followed her around time and time again, one by one and combing when I could.
Now, I realize that this was a good process for her to go through, as it shed a lot of her thick fur. Which in the south, was getting hot in the car. I found that after this little "episode" it actually, naturally, helped us both quite a bit. It easied my worry of going into the hotter areas upcoming, and taught me a little about letting her loose. Not to say that I won't let her loose, but to take closer notice of my surroundings. Also, the great need we had for a legit harness and leash that does not get caught, and a way to keep track of her.
(In the coming week back into town, also freshly out of food, I was able to get food, harness and matching leash and some cute little alarm bells for her harness, and the loop of her leash, so I know where she is because I can hear here, and see her new bright blue leash easily!)
But sooner than I wanted, it was time to pack out and get back on the road to get to the ultimate goals in mind, along with other neat places along the way.
