Its our last day in Montreal and even though we haven't really done much its passed really quickly and we've really enjoyed it. Its snowed ever since we came as you can see in our pictures but I think thats made it all the more special for us as we might not see any snow for a while.
From the advice of people we had met in the hostel and reading a few guide books we decided to venture into Old Montreal. It was only about five minutes on the metro from our hostel. Most of the main sights in Montreal are located in this area such as the port and Notre Dame so we expected it to be really busy with tourists. It was the exact opposite, at times it seemed like there was only us two around. It was nice in contrast to New York which was busy all the time. We had a good look round the whole area taking plenty of pictures until it was just too cold for us and we had to go back. As much as we had wrapped up it still wasn't enough, it was minus one! We had found a coffee shop similar to Starbucks that we had been visiting when we needed to warm up so we headed back there. It had a lovely log fire just what we needed after walking around in the freezing cold.
We have spent our evenings in Montreal just relaxing in our hostel, its definately too cold to go walking around. We have been sharing our apartment with two really nice french guys who are both travelling the world. So we have been treated to a few songs on the guitar by one of them each night.
Yesterday we had a walk around Parc du Mont Royal which is close to our hostel. It was really beautiful all covered in snow and made the cold a bit more bearable. Today we are going to do pretty much the same and just relax and probably not do too much. We've got another 10 hour train journey back to New York for one night, to catch a connecting train to Chicago.
