Well here we are in Orlando. The journey from Miami was fine, the Amtrak trains are lovely so much better than our trains, it felt like we were in first class! The day we arrived here was quite cloudy as there had been a few storms the night before so it was not quite what we expected, by that we mean lots of sun! Our hostel, the Palm Lakefront Resort is located on the highway from Kissimmee to Disney World and we soon realised that Disney is the main attraction round here. But we were really happy with our hostel which was more of a motel really but catered for backpackers. Its positioned on Lake Cecile and has lovely gardens and a pool at the back. The first day we just got our bearings and settled in. We had our first taste of real American fast food at Taco Bell, it was really nice, just what we needed. We had a good look through all the free guides and leaflets in our hostel to decide what we wanted to do for the rest of the time here. The next morning we took advantage of the good computers in our hostel and caught up on our journal and emails and planned the next stages of our trip with some helpful advice of our hostel staff. As it was much sunnier than the day before we decided to make the most of it and went out to explore. We had seen that there was a crazy golf course just down the road so we decided to go for a game. As it was America it was about 5 times the size of any crazy golf course either of us had been to before! It was really good fun and passed a few hours of our day. As we had decided to go to Disney the next day we just chilled out and cooked tea in our hostel, oh and Lynz managed to find a christmas film to watch so she was happy! We got up early for Disney the next day to make the most of it. It was really hot again, so think it was just our first day which was a bit gloomy. After looking through alot of leaflets and only having one day we decided to go to Magic Kingdom, it seemed to be the best one. Disney is only 20 minutes up the road and cost $3 on the bus to get there. It wasn't something that we had planned to do but we are really glad we did, we had the best day. We were just like little kids, trying everything, going on all the rides and taking photos of the characters (Lee more than Lynz!!). Everything was done really well and everyone made such a big effort at Disney. Thank you to everyone that gave us money we wouldn't have been able to go and have experiences like that if it wasn't for you! We were so tired when we got back that we couldn't even stay awake to watch Home Alone!
So today is our last day here before we head off for a 17 hour train journey to Washington DC, wish us luck! We are making the most of the nice weather before we head off into the cold and having a picnic by the lake and doing all our washing. We'll speak to you soon.
