First day in Beijing and after a horrible sleepless night we walk off in the wrong direction in search if the city! Haha.
we had all gone to bed early as we were all so tired but since we had managed to get a couple hours on the plane and the strange new feeling if sleeping in s room with random people meant we couldn't sleep, about 2am az and I were still awake and extremely frustrated so went back downstairs for a couple more beers and a chat to send us to sleep.
So heading off in the wrong direction we walked for a couple of hours around beijing which was nice but not central to say the least, got to know the suburbs pretty well but no time to see the real beijing! Find the subway and work out how to use the ticket machine, So get the tube to ti'an anmen square which is one of the most famous landmarks in Beijing where the entrance to the forbidden city and numerous big important buildings are?! Haha transpires that its 'golden week' in china which Is basically a national bank holiday so most people are off work snd partying, roads are closed and there's a carnival atmosphere in the air which is great! We sat in ti'an anmen square with a drink taking in the unbelievable amount of little black haired heads people around us and were shocked when the first people cautiously approached us and signed that they Wanted a picture, at first I went to take a picture of them for them but turns out they wanted a picture with us! Before long this became the norm and we were the biggest attraction having pictures taken left right and centre!
Headed back to the hostel and got dinner on the side of the road, sitting on little plastic stools while a big coal barbecue cooked meat sqewers inches from cars driving past, then handfulls of sqewers were just thrown in front of us and used sticks straight into the road in huge piles! Beers out of open crates on the footpath and laughing locals all around us, it was great except gettin ripped off when compared to the amount the locals were paying, still, it only cost £2.50 each so can't complain too much!
Back to the hostel and the girls go to bed, with a few beers in us me and Az are feeling lively and debate for about a whole second about wether or not go out :) we've heard about a couple of good clubs nearby so head our into Beijing by ourselves, not knowing where we're going, not knowing how to get home but with beers in us, our lives in front of us and a big smile on our faces we go for what was an absolutely brilliant random and memorable night out in the city!
