Maan we woke to cloud and mist and basically no sun. I like waking here. Not only because you can here the waves crashing on the shore and the birds and wildlife tweeting and rustling in the jungle behind us but its the delicious, all you can't eat, breakfast too. If the sun was shining I think it may just be heaven.
I got bored lying in bed so I got a wash, grabbed my book and headed outside. I could see the fishermen in the bay bringing their lines in. I stood watching waiting to see how many fish they'd caught. I didn't realise how much of a process it was pulling the net in. They took ages, inching it in. They had caught quite a few.
After an hour or so I went to the dorm to see if Lee was awake and to let him know I was going for breakfast. Just as I sat down Lee joined me. It was delightful, as expected. We decided to stroll down to the beach and sit on some rocks to read and chill out taking in the gorgeous surroundings; and let the food digest. We got bored too quickly and decided to just jump on a bus out of town: like a mini adventure. We ended up in a big posh shopping mall. We walked around but it was a bit too swanky; plus we had no money so we jumped back on the bus. We went into the town on the way back and bought a few bits and bobs for tea then headed back to the hostel. We had a wash, eat egg baguettes and sat around doing not a lot whilst we waited for a couple of hours to go by until we had to get the night bus to São Paulo. Lee had a genius idea of cooking potatoes in the microwave for half an hour, sprinkling them with cheese and putting them in a Tupperware tub for tea later; so we did. It had been raining whilst we'd been cooking but at about 6pm it eased off so we went back to the bus stop and headed for the terminal. The last at the ticket booth pointed us to the VIP lounge. We felt a little special as we headed over (looking like scruff bags). I don't think they understand the abbreviation?! It was exactly the same as the rest of the terminal seating arrangement except it had a glass wall. Nobody checked our ticket, so basically anyone could come in and the announcement, as per usual where said in the native language only. We only had a 45 min wait: the bus was on time. It was a bus with an upstairs and downstairs. We were seat 19 & 20 so we knew we were upstairs (downstairs is we're the more conifer seats are). When we climbed the stairs and found our seats we found out our seat were pretty comfy with extra leg room. You don't get served food on the buses in Brazil (as far as we've seen anyway) but you get free cold water: stored in a fridge, on the bus, in cartons (like jubilee lollies). This journey was 10-12 hour depending on traffic and stops. It left the depot at 9 so it was a night bus. We were both shattered so we slept right the way through.
