Hello!!!!!!!
Having a very productive morning here at school, my first lesson isnt till 10.30 so thought id send a little update on this thing!
things have been pretty quiet since my last blog. Ive been spending my weekends relaxing and writing a persoanl statement for the old PGCE applictation. Dont think ive ever spent so much time alone, but its been kinda nice, in some ways just what I needed, i'm over it now though! Lots of thinking and reflection and all that crap done now its time to PARTY!!!!!! woooooop! Havent left sakon nakhon in weeks and weeks until last weekend when i went to Udon Thani and met a few other interns. We found a PROPER PUB! it had a wooden bar and poured pints and everything! It was called the irish clock and we even went bac in the morning and had a pretty convincing english breakfast! Run by an English ex pat (theres LOADS of them in udon) and a welcome beer was had by all! Also all us girls were very brave and got hair cuts, the cut was fine but they made us all look like charlies angles by blowdrying our hair into waves, they gave me a strange kinda massive wavey fringe thing that any eastenders character would have been proud of! Still once it was washed out it was fine! only 200 baht (about 4 quid) plus i had a brilliant massage that was only 120 baht for an hour! bargain!!!!
Now finishing school on the 11th which still makes it a bit tight for volunteer work if I'm gonna hit the islands but gives me an extra week or two travelling and I get to meet up with some of the very lovely people ive met since coming over!
Heading to Kalasin at the weekend to meet up with those guys and eat ice cream cake at jenny and patricks goodbye drinkies then we are all headed to bangkok monday to get our visa changed back into immigrant visas and then myself and eamer will come back to the north east as jenny and patrick are set free! Still it'll be my turn soon!
In fairness whilst I am dying to go have some fun, Sakon Nakhon has been pretty kind to me, despite how I felt at the begining and I'm pretty proud of myself for getting through the tough times, the good times have been more than worth it. The kids are really funny at school, weve been getting on well since christmas (with the odd exception) and since this week will be my final week actually teaching them (they have exams from now on) weve been having some fun in class! I've signed a million leavers friendship book things (6 of my 9 classes are headed to secondary schoola fter this term) and posed for a thousand photos and had some very lovely hugs and compliments, I've never had so many people tell me they love me! hehe I couldnt stay at this school any longer, mainly because I need more to entertain me in my spare time, but I will miss it!
I'm on a mission to get all of those things that seemed so strange in the begining on camera in my final few weeks, the problem with that is that now they all seem so normal I cant remember what was so weird anymore! I dont even blink at 3 ten year olds squashed on a moped or at toddlers standing up on them as their parents drive them around. I think nothing of stopping what ever i'm doing and standing when the national anthem plays and I dont even need anyone to point it out to me now! hearing it at least twice a day for four months has got that tune well and truely fixed in my head! I even understand some of what people are saying, although ususally I can only reply in English. I have fun with the kids now instead f trying to rule over them with an iron rod and when they start giving me crap I immitate them untill everyones laughing and they do what I weant them too! I dont care if I look silly anymore and I even sometimes sing in public, down a microphone no less!
It cant be rose tinted glasses if i'm still here can it? hehehehe
Anyhoo i'd best go and finish my end of term exam marking, no that theres much point, I'm not allowed to give them less than 80 percent anyway! haha
