Hello, went to the floating village this morning, took a boat out inot the middle of the lake where hundreds of house boats are moored, making a village, its quite amazing, some are shops, homes, schools etc (although a lot of the children dont go to school here because they have to work to find food for their families, and our guide tells us eductaion is very poor wiuth treachers being paid very badly). In the middle of the town is a big platform where they have a fish farm, a crocodile farm and sell some souveniers to tourists like us. The starngest this was small children walking around with massive snakes around their necks, they kind of run at you offering photos for money and generally begging. The first one we saw was paddling his boat and grabbed onto ours in order to pose for photos, just glad he didn't jump on the boat wioth massive snake in hand!!!!
This afternoon i have free time but there isn't much to do in siem reap apart fromthe temples, hence my internet gabble.
Tomorrow we catch a public bus 5 hours to Compong Cham (at 6.30am!!!!) its a small city on the banks of the mekong, according to our guide we'llbe hiring bikes and cycling to the nearby villages to get a look of country life for cambodians, altgough in this 40degree heat i'm not sure if any of us will make it!!!!, the sun is burning hot and in the afternoons the humidity is almost unbearable, but once you have a boittle of water in your hand you tend to be ok.
Anyway, i'm gonna try and get my photos so far put onto CD so they are backed up!!!!
Missing everyone, feels like i've been away forever already!!!
