From Stewart I headed north and through Invercargill, where I met up with a friend from the packhouse for the journey up the west coast.
Lots of places to stop and amazing scenery. Every corner you turn it's another fantastic sight and you could literally stop every 5 minutes for pictures if you wanted to.
The further you head into the Fiordlands the more it feels like your driving through an edition of National Geographic. Just stunning views all around. Isn't hard to see why LoTR was filmed here. The diversity of landscape is amazing.
Loved the Fiordlands. Went on a self guided cave tour. Wasn't too sure about it but glad I did it. Saw glow worms!
Went to Milford Sound and did the obligatory boat trip. Wasn't sure if it was going to be overhyped but again the weather held up and we had a sunny Milford experience which is rare apparently! The drive up is amazing. Twisty roads are the norm here but the scenery makes up for it. Glad we got the early trip as well before all the tour buses rocked up. Had dolphins swim beside the boat too! Definitely worth it!
