Hmmmm Uruguay, what can I say about Uruguay...........there was the BIGGEST thunder storm I have ever seen when we were on yet another night bus, it had purple lightening and everything. Katherine also got chatted up by two small boys who claimed to be 22, we think they were more like 17 and on holiday with their parents, score! They were very friendly and let us try some of the local tea which is called Mate, it´s bitter and not the nicest but at least we tried it. They all drink it in this area, you can see everyone walking round with these things that look like big pipes but they are actually drinking tea out of them. We went to some thermal baths whislt we were in Uruguay (this is where we tried the mate), it was like swimming in a giant hot bath and when the sun is out all you can do is float.
Also had a look round the capital Montevideo which was interesting, had a lunch of what can only be described as intestines and other parts of an animal you would not want to eat, this is a mixed BBQ, we were expecting chicken / beef etc so you can imagine the look on our faces when it was brought over, mmmmmm nice.
I have forgot to include some vital information from some of my previous journal entries, in Paraty we went to a bird park where I was attacked for no reason by a large parrot! I have pictures, at one point it was going for my ear, I must say Katherine did try to help for a couple of seconds but then decided to just laugh and take pictures instead.
I also forgot to mention the truely harrowing event of getting my hair caught in the hotel hair drier, Katherine did come to my rescue this time and cut my hair free saying sorry everytime she cut a little bit. You can´t tell where the hair is missing but there was a lot!
Buenos Aires next!
Take care
