World, hold on!
Hello from not so sunny Brazil!!
Well we're finally here, it's mad to think that we are in Brazil. We landed yesterday morning but feels like we have been here longer. The flight was good and went really quickly, think we were the source of entertainment for the poor guy who was sitting next too Katherine as he spent most of the flight laughing at our attempts to say 'Sao Paulo'correctly. Got mistaken for being a native by the flight attendant twice, yamas! Rio is nice but colder than i imagined and the hotel is probably the nicest we'll be staying in for a while! I think we have adapted well, have figured out how to cross the road, which is basically when there is a gap run! This has taken me a few attempts to figure out and nearly left Katherine going solo for the rest of the tour. Have also learnt NEVER order lasagne in Brazil, I had what can only be described as a plate of melted cheese for lunch the other day, mmmmm nice.
The independent travel thing is going well but we did go on a guided tour of the city yesterday as we have so little time here and we didn't want o miss anything out. We went up sugar loaf, saw the football stadium and Christ the redeemer. Also went to the place where the carnival happens and got to try on some actual carnival outfits!!!!!! As you can imagine Katherine and myself were straight off that bus and into the costume shop to pick what outfit we wanted, much to the amusement of the rest of the tour party. I have some pictures to up load but this computer has not got the facilities to do it. We were hoping to have a day on the beach today but it's cloudy so the tan will have to wait.
We'll be meeting the rest of he GAP tour people later on today, which should be exciting.
Hope all is well with you guys.
Take care and email soon
