The Margaret River Trip - April 5th -7th 2010
Day One—April 5th
Our trip started not-so-bright and early. The four of us (Jenn, Jake, Rojesh and I) left Murdoch before the sun was up (around 6am) in order to make good time on the road since Margaret River is about a 3-hour drive South of Perth. We first stopped in Bunbury at Jake's mom's place with intentions of picking up snorkel gear.We got a bit sidetracked with his 6 or so cats and some brekky that we actually drove away without the snorkel gear!Geniuses! It was all good though, since it later turned out that we wouldn't even get the chance to go snorkeling.
A few more kilometers down the road we stopped at a lovely beach… what am I saying all beaches here are lovely… so I guess it was your typical Aussie beach in Leeuwin Naturaliste National Park.We continued on for a day of caving. The first cave we visited was "Mammoth Cave"… yup, I always knew you were smart… it is pretty gigantic. We wore some pretty amazing, early 1990s headphones and nerded it up listening to our educational tour referencing things such as stalactites, stalagmites, pillars and flowstone. The same general information was absorbed at the second cave, "Lake Cave".This was my favourite out of the two because a lake virtually flowed through the cave.Unfortunately, we didn't get to wear the 90's headgear that made us look "totally radical dude" ("3 Ninjas" reference for those who just aren't up-to-date enough), but we did have a great guide! After the caves, we had just enough time to check out Saracen Estates Winery and Duckstein Brewery before they closed. After a drink, we headed to our hotel to drop off our bags. The place looked like your average hotel from the outside, but the rooms inside were awesome!Jake and Rojesh's room and Jenn and my room had spas (hottubs), which after dinner we all decided to pile into!
