November 5th, 2010 --- Hervey Bay
Today was a much needed rest day!We arrived at the Greyhound terminal at 7:35am and were met by the Nomads courtesy shuttle, which took us to our hostel.Luckily, we were able to check in early. We did a load of laundry (half our things were already damp!) and lazed around the pool.It began to shower, so we decided to shower and freshen up.We threw our stuff in the dryer, but it didn't completely dry everything so our room looked a bit like a Chinese Laundromat!Thankfully, we were the only two in our four-bed dorm.(We would later be joined by a lovely Austrian lady). We ventured to the beach and through town when the rain stopped, but there wasn't too much going on in Hervey Bay.The town is mostly used as a stopover for visitors traveling to Fraser Island.Allie had to do some sorting out with her bank, so once she finished with that we grabbed a bite to eat at a local pub.We had poutine of all things!Well it wasn't exactly on the menu, but "wedges, cheese and bacon" was so we substituted gravy for bacon. The cook thought we were a bit odd, but it was delicious!
Our bodies were so out of sync because of the on and off sleep from the previous night, that when we got in our room at 6:45pm all we wanted to do was put on our pajamas... so we did exactly that!It was too early to go to bed, so we decided to lighten the load of liquids and finished our vodka and coke that we had been carting around with us!
