Today we got up early after a long and rough night sail to visit the island of Genovese. We walked for a couple of hours to see Red Footed, Blue Footed and Nazca Boobies and Frigate Birds nesting, lots of chicks too. Also saw 2 Owls which is rare. One of the Frigate Bird chicks had fallen out of the nest, which means the parents will ignore it, it won't survive, Amanda was a bit upset. Sailed to Bartolome for snorkelling and a walk to see Native wildlife, mostly birds, sealions and iguanas. Took the Panga to the island for our first taste of wild Galapagos. The flora is not what we expected, very arid, bare trees, grass, not very green at all and very rocky. Lots of Sealions along the coast, including a baby just off the trail, curled up in the rocks, plus others showing off and posing. Inland were lots of birds, mostly Blue Footed Boobies ...

Arrived in the Galapagos today after a thoroughly enjoyable 15 hour flight from London to Madrid to Guayaquil (3 hour stopover) to Quito, 5 hours sleep then another fight from Quito to Guayaquil to Baltra in the morning.
