As we were coming in to land all that stood out amongst all the buildings were bright orange tents, everywhere, but most significantly in clusters in open spaces. When we landed we took our transfer back to our hotel in Thamel, an area of Kathmandu that luckily is not badly damaged, we dropped our bags and headed straight for the British Embassy, we spoke to a lady from the Red Cross who advised us flights are running to London and Delhi so we should proceed to organise those flights ourselves, not as helpful as we had hoped but her confirmation that we could proceed our travels to Delhi was good news. We were so relived to have the hotel room at last, a comfy bed and a shower!
Saturday, we had a long lie in followed by breakfast, we spent the rest of the morning going through our numerous Facebook messages from our friends and family who so kindly messaged us wishing us well. We walked around the town to grab some souvenirs, Laura managed to get her much wanted camp blanket made out of Yak wool, Ben and Chris bought more tea! We grabbed some food and headed back to pack as tomorrow Liam and Sam fly to the UK and we are hopeful of flying out to Delhi. At tea time we went back out for more food, the town is so quiet with only some shops open, not like the crazy town we had once seen here before, we gave a homeless guy the blanket we took from the plane and a bottle of water which he was very grateful for. We grabbed more food and some drinks then sat in the hotel balcony area chatting until bed time.
