The Kiwis (this time European settlers) are outdoor aficionados. Young people, particularly, hike, bike, prep for iron-man and bungy jump. I didn't realize it but bungy jumping originate in Vanuatu. Vines were tied around a bride's ankles and she was tossed off a cliff, as part of the marriage ceremony. The missionaries put a stop to that. But avid New Zealanders resumed the practice with equal opportunity. The vineyards here offer weddings in a lovely caves; perhaps post nuptial bungy jumps can be arranged. Any recent brides or grooms interested? We watched several bungy jumpers today and recorded one plunge, but my data plan doesn't allow me to upload it.
See me later.
We also visited totally charming Arrowtown, an old gold mining community which has been rejuvenated into a high end Mecca for Kiwis as well as tourists. It afforded me an opportunity to offer you a "where's Waldo" moment. If you can't guess why, email one of my kids; they will groan you the answer.
