What a beautiful day we had here today!! It was in low to mid 70's for sure. Today I did the river raft to the eagle preserve and could not have had better weather. The trip consisted of a boat ride to Haines, AK which took 20-30 min and then we boarded a bus for another 45 min ride.
CP was our guide and was quite funny. We toured through downtown Haines and they made fun of the high scholl which this year boasted a graduating class of 9 students. this year all guys...lol. Then we got to a stop sign and CP and Vern (the bus driver) each chose a side to watch for oncoming traffic. Of course there was none but, it "is always good to have another pair of eyes to check...." Upon arrival we doned wonderful rubber boots, life jackets and our sunglasses then were divided into 2 groups. We had 7 in ours as I was the odd one out....nice :) Joyce and Paul from Florida joined me in the back of the raft - another Paul was the raft person and then 4 other up front. These were huge rafts. You could hear and feel the raft go across the bottom as it was a skinny river we were in!
We got stuck once and Paul had to go in to the 5" deep water and shove us out.
We saw a few eagles, but the rafting was a hoot. we got back to base and they had a nice lunch set up for us of sandwiches and lemonade with potato chips.
It was a great day! Super picks - check them out :)

Mason Great pics Lor. Looks like the fun continues and so far you are both injury free! My favorite pic is with the guy on watch with the rifle or shotgun slung over his shoulder. You must have been shocked by the size of the eagles. And very impressed you had binos with you!!! (Kelly - that's binoculars). I'm getting jealous looking at the photos! More importantly, how is the stash of vodka holding up??? Gotta go - duty calls! PS - Alex and Linzi got engaged!!!
