woAHHH!! SAO PAULO IS HUGE! 3rd biggest metropolis in the world so i cant really describe the humungus nature of this city. flying over we came across massive fields of dense green tunga i think its called mixed with high rise flats and shanty town houses. its pretty crazy, with crazy people, crazy drivers and crazy food.
We met with our friend rita who lived in london for 8 years. so we are staying in her beautiful flat which is on the 8th floor of a massive tower block so the view from the window is stunning!
The language is mad hard. i keep speaking in spanish but im desperately tryin to learn so im not such a gringa! (foreigner). The first night we arrived from a intense 11 hour jounrey squeezed in the corner of a rather large but lovely portugese woman.
First night we went for our first caprinhas which are poweful! and i have learnt how to make for you all so i can when i return. Then rita took us to a brazillian bar, o do borogodo where there was a live samba band. Having gone for a few wanders round the city, although it is so big i dont think i could call it that, id say a walk round a few streets. The colours and vintage signs are something from a 1950s postcard and im trying to take as many snaps without looking like an absolute pale target! lol
The city is not really sight seeingy, the locals say its a very work hard/ party in the evening type of town so you it is best to enjoy the city at night. On that note
Heading to a pre carnivale party in the city this eve before we head to a small post colonial town on the way to rio called paraty.
love from this humungus ball that im in.
so the pre carnivale party was at a gay club called loco. it was mad, the brazillians know how to party. we reached the club at 3am and left at 10! lots of mad transvestites and other strange beings! now for a 4 hour night bus to paraty!- comments
