Just sitting waiting for my bus to leave Mumbai, a nice 14 hour coach journey to Hampi awaits, am sad to leave the city, have loved being here however it will be good to get a bit of peace and tranquility, Mumbai is the most definately the city that never sleeps... or stands still for that matter!
I arrived from Nasik and was promptly dumped on my own at the side of the road with my three bags (I'm yet to master the travelling light thing). Luckily i'd booked my accomodation ahead to avoid another Aurangabad situation so hailed a taxi down, gave him the address and jumped in. However my memory of taxi drivers's map reading abilities had failed me, the driver, despite woogling his head euthusicatically when I asked him if he knew where I was staying had little clue when we were going, add to that the very bad traffic; the journey to downtown Mumbai took rather a long while! However arrived at the Welcome Hotel, probably the nicest place (and most expensive place) i've stayed so far, to be greeted by a army of porters and lots of hot sweet chai. Had a wander down into Colaba to take in the famous (and following the Mumbai attacks infamous) sights; the gateway to India, Taj Palace Hotel and Leopolds Cafe.
