hello..thought I would email you while I have the chance...well to start off with i burst into tears just as we were walking through security which probably looked a bit dodgy. The flight was ok..but so long..some good views though
when we arrived at JFK we had to wait for a while for our shuttle bus...then the bus thing took about an hour as we basically had to drive into manhatten across the whole of brooklyn and some other places i dont know at peak rush hour...crazy driving and big big ques...but to be fair it was a really good way to see the city...
it was quite daunting at first just becuase until you've experienced how choc o blocked the buildings are and how tall they are its really strange.
we got to our hostel around 6 ish here..by that time we were really tired as we are running on english time.we went out to this cheesy diner and tried to eat a big meal..but ended up just picking at it before we decided we felt too tired to eat..as it was about 12 (english time) for us.
so we went back to the hostel and just slept like logs.THEN when we woke up this morning...went out and walked to broadway and time square..which is really REALLY far away...
then we basically did nearly everything in that part of town... we went to empire state building which we went up and i took about 1000000 photos ..it was amazing and really put manhatten into perspective as you cant really grasp it as the buildings are so tall you cant see very far..so that was really worth it. but nat is scared of hights so stood inside most of the time looking out the grubby windows..where i was getting stuck in and leaning over the edge getting loads of pictures.
after that we walked to loads of sights like...grand central station which is lovely inside..a park called bryant park which has an ice rink..where we debated weather or not to have a go...after 2 minutes we saw some guy fall over and wack his nose and it was bleeding so we decided to move on..we walked through quite a bit of central park aswell and its so so nice
we had dinner at a TGI fridays..our waitress lectured us about how we tipped about 3%...We walked everywhere today..even all the way home.. we had to walk the length of central park.. from 45th street to 101st street.. which took about an hour.. and we were power walking..i can feel holes emerging in my ugg boots after a day! i can also feel the blisters developing into mole hills already so we are going to try out some public transport tomorow. were going to do the buisness district.
long entry sorry
i hope everyones well and il update sooon xxx
