22nd SEPT - Today we entered Zambia, taking a short ferry across the width of the river. You could see Zambia, Botswana, Zimbabwe and Namibia at each side. The were queues of lorries at either side whihc have to wait for days to get across. We saw Victoria Falls, which although were still amazing were more dissappointing since its dry season the amount of water coming over the side was not anywehre near what you see on the postcards. We watched bungees off the bridge and bought things at the market where the sellers were really stressful trying to get oyou into their shop which all sold the same stuff! Our campsite 'Waterfront Lodge' was like luxury, still camping but was a big site, loads of people, right on the Zambezi and just gerneally really good vibe. WEe booked on to do the Gorge Swing amongst other things tomorrow!Went out for another group meal to say by to a couple of Ozzies leaving the tour at Livingstone.
23rd SEPT - GORGE SWING DAY!!!! Me and Nats did an afternoon and Batoka Gorge - we did abseiling, flying fox which is like a zip wire thing were you launch yourself off the side and fly like a bierd. Working our way up to the Gorge Swing! I did a tandem with a Saffer we met and then did it alone. Tandem you are attached and both fall off the cliff edge backwards, on your own you have to step off forwards which is somewhat more difficult. Both ways you freefall 53m before being caught and swinging across the gorge to enjoy the view! I cant even describe how it felt apart from that my stomach was nowhere and i just closed my eyes and screamed the whole way!!!! The best adrenaline rush ever though, im so glad i did it and so proud of myself as i really wanted to whimp out! Im getting whimpy in my old age i think. I was glad Mark did the tandem with me fierst though it eased me into it! Generally a cvery sweaty afternoon as the heat was riediculous and we had to walk back up out of the gorge several times. I have a video of the gorge swing that i will put up with my photos-eventually! I would definitely recommend you all go do it if you havent already though. Bungee next me thinks! We spent the evening in the bar with the group and the saffers from the gorge. A free night all round as they put all the drinks on their tab, nice! We held the bar up til about 3am where we watched the stars before bed. All in all an amazing day, the nightmares last night didn't come true!
24th-28th SEPT - We transfered trucks the next morning, 12 from Shagngani boarded 'Shashe' which was to take us down to Jo'Burg. In short we stopped at Kruger Park which is the size of England - crazy. We did night game drives here - saw a cheetah right by our trck and were surrounded by elephants and buffalo in the pitch black which was pretty scary. Im currently spoending my last hour in Jo'burg before going to the airport to board my plane it India!! Let the Indian adventures begin...im preparing myselg for a massive culture shock as all in all Africa has been a luxury compared to what is in store for us i think....
Next month i shall be updating as i go as this blog has taken an aagggeee to update, silly me!
