Hey Guys!
Thought it was about time for another update. We left you last time with Lauren and I meeting up in Perth airport on our way to Melbourne! Spent a week in Melbourne and two weeks in Sydney.
Melbourne was an awesome place, the city was beautifull, we walked around all the sites (5K walk in total!!!) Went to Melbourne zoo and saw our first Kangaroos! Had a day in St Kilda, which is a beach side part of the city. And of course we couldn't go to Melbourne without seeing Ramsay Street! It was so sereal, the street was so tiny. We Janae on that day too. Then on the Neighbours night we met the legendary Karl Kennedy, along with some other stars. Also visited the Melbourne museum which was very educational! One of the highlights of the trip was the Open Air Cinema. It was a gorgeous night with the sky scrapers in the background and we got to see Die Hard which put us in a nice christmassy mood! Had some nice people in our dorm and hostel and found the cheesiest club in Melbourne to bop away to!
And then.......the part that we were both looking forward to the most SYDNEY!!!!!!
What a fab place, would reccommend to everybody! We stayed in a place called Kings Cross, which is the red light district area but was a fab place to stay as all the backpackers were there and it was a cheap/crazy night out! Obviously got to see the famous Sydney Harbour Bridge and Opera House which looks even better in real life than they do on tv. Walked around the Botanical Gardens, which were really pretty. Visited the Australia museum, not as good as the Melbourne one but we felt we needed to do something cultural. Another amazing site was Darling Harbour, saw street entertainers and christmas carols there. Did the 3 main beaches in Sydney; Bondi, Coogee and got the ferry to Manley. Manley was our favourite and it also had award winning fish and chips!
Met loads of cool people at our hostel and also met up with Nat and Anna from Laura's uni. As we were all orphans at christmas we did the usual and spent the day together on Bondi Beach! The weather wasn't fab but at least it didn't rain as it was forecasted too, somehow still managed to get burnt though. Tried to get into the christmas spirit by having sausages wrapped in bacon with our picnic, all in all was a fab day!
NEW YEARS EVE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Now this is the bit we were both looking forward to the most, the infamous Harbour Bridge Fireworks. The day started at 8am, found our spot about 11am. Had the perfect view of both the bridge and the Opera House. Spent the day getting merry with all our friends from the hostel waiting for midnight. The fireworks were the most amazing things ever, they even went off the top of the sky scrappers!
New years day was pretty much a write off, we surfaced about 5pm and a big gang of girlies went to watch "P.s. I Love You" at the cinema. If you haven't seen it already girlies go watch it!
Oh one thing we forgot to mention...we actually climbed the Harbour Bridge!!! This was amazing, started at sundown so got to see the views both at day and night!
We've now started our trip up the east coast. After Sydney we went to a small town called Newcastle for a few days, lovely beaches and Nat had a friend that showed us around. Went on a wine tour which was a really fun day as we topped up from the night before and got to try cheese aswell!
Now we're in Bondi beach, staying here for 5/6 days. Really cool place and we will update you as we go along!
Love and kisses to all. Hope you all had wonderful christmas' and New Years!
Love Lauren and Laura!
