hi again from sunny Byron Bay. we got here yesterday afternoon and its lovely.

Left sydney early on thursday morning where our oz experience bus met us... ready for the long journey (about 9 hours) up to the surf camp place. the bus was good, met a lot of people cuz the driver made us go around with the microphone and say stuff about ourselves! ha, most people on were english! got talking to a couple of girls who are lovely and have formed a bit of a foursome now which is nice..

arrived at surf camp place at 5ish in the afternoon and had time to go down to the beach for end of sunset (very pretty) before bbq dinner. Deffinatly made us feel like we were in australia, i,liz was eating my food and a massive cricket type thing jumped up on to the edge of my plate then jumped on to a girl next to me then a few were jumping around everyone, quite funny really!!

after dinner everyone was mulling around drinking and a group of us ended up playing cards, great relaxed evening but dont think the wine helped with the 6 o'clock start for the surf lesson! the surfing was so much fun, had wetsuits and had a lesson on the beach first then all got in the water... i was thinking the waves wouldnt be that big as it was a beginners lesson but they were huge! well compared to anything u get in england! and im pleased to say that both lauren and i managed to get standing upright on the boards a few times, with the help of the instructors! then again, spent a lot of time under the water too... lots and lots of fun!!

the bus was about 3 hours from there to here so not too bad and it was a bigger one this time so more room and a dvd!

hostel here is nice, swimming pool and big open eating area with the bedrooms around it, we're sharing with the 2 girls, kim and vicky from the bus.. been to the beach today making the most of the gorgeous sunshine, just 5 mins walk from the hotel, and probably going out tonight. the bar that everyone recommends is right opposite the hostel which is very convenient!! will keep you updated- leaving here on wednesday for the bus to 'brissy'! xxxxxxxxxxxxx
