The first night we arrived in Bangkok we met our tour leader ( we have done a tour which was 6 days from Bangkok to the island Koh Phangan) and went to a lady boy show!! Talk about skipping from one culture to the next... it was a big caberet show and was really funny actually, glad we went. Over the next few days we visited a bridge, a floating market, did lots of driving about luckily in a air conditioned van with a safe driver travelled for a long time on an over night train which was an experience very hot but not unbearable. Then we arrived eventually on Koh Phangan one of the islands on the eastern gulf of Thailand... and then we had 3 days to do what we wanted. The first day was really lovely weather and we were staing in a nice resort on a beach which was quite peaceful and quiet. The following couple of days however the weather wasnt so great and it rained alot!! But we had booked a tour one day where we had an elephant trekk/ride which was so much run and the elephants were lovely, the tour of the island also took us to some waterfalls by which you had to do a bit of a steep climp up into the jungle/woods to see them... we were wearing flip flops but it actually wasnt too much of a struggle, lets just say we had a bit of a sweaty brow when we reached the top!! Our bungalow's bathroom was like a wet room but not a posh one!! As the shower was just attatched to the wall so everything got wet and apart from the frogs that used to sit on the windowsill at night (alothough it may as well been in lizs bed) and made odd noises and the fact that we were under loads of coconut trees so i got paranoid one was going to fall on our head every time we walked up it was really a very nice place!!
After Koh Phangan we went over to Samui... but to be honest there is not alot to say about that we were unlucky with the weather for the first few days and i thought the whole place was a bit chavvy/european/building site!We treated ourselfs to some nice accomodation and our room was great and had a tv... so one day when liz wasnt feeling very well and it was pouring with rain and i mean pouring i sat and watched GENE SIMMONS Family Jewel (as in from KISS) ALL DAY as it was back to back. Some good markets on Samui actually and nice restaurants but a bit pricey (for thailand) there are just alot of tourists there so they are really building it up and also we spent too much time there, otherwise i think we would have liked it more! Great pancakes though!
Soooo then we had to make our way back over to Phangan..for the FULL MOON PARTY. We had tried booking somewhere to stay as it gets very busy on the island at full moon periods... we manged to find a place after much rejections, fully booked, no reservations taken and children screaming down my ear. So we arrived at this place and got to our bungalow... right let me correst myself we got to our shack on stilts!! At first we wernt to bothered because it was only for 2 nights and it was cheap but OH MY GOODNESS it was so foul! a hangling light bulb was our light source and the bathroom had no hot water and a sqat toilet no bin no toilet roll a stone floor and o yeah, a huge gaping hole in the wall and the door didnt shut. I cant right anymore about it its making me feel sick (deposits didnt even go down the toilet in the end!!)
So anyway full moon party was really fun great atmosphere also went out the night before and met some friends we knew from Oz and on the night of the full moon met up with Alice Hannah and rob who i went to school with and we know from home so we all donned the floresent paint and drank thai whiskey from buckets and straws and had a wicked party!!
Now on Koh tao where we are going to recover from the Full moon Party, we didnt feel to great yesterdayt (day after full moon)i think it was the dodgey red bull stuff they put in the buckets anyway..... koh tao is much quieter but still lots of travellers like us here and we are staying in a nice place again with an amazing beach and pool woooo!!
Not sure but this might be our last entry assssssssss back in a week!! SEE YOU SOON if we dont decide to stay and marry a thai man... not likely! xxxxxxxxxxxxx
