For those of you reading this, this is my travel blog so you can follow me on my travels to Morocco, Thailand, Australia, New Zealand and America.
In honour of my love of all things disney I feel it fitting to begin the story like this....
"Once upon a time there lived a girl named Laura who became restless of the stresses of work, exams and general dreary weather in Guernsey.... She sat there with her friend and colleague Mel dreaming of sun soaked beaches, surfboards, cocktails and a life of aimless wandering!"
This was 8 months ago and all it took was 2 weeks of solid research, some deliberation and the acquisition of a new passport and that was it the dream became a reality - we decided on our route and booked our tickets!
It was probably the most impulsive decision I've made in my 26 years, but one which I hope will provide me with so many amazing life experiences and happy memories!
Then came the task of deciding what to take and actually packing. Sat there I stared at my rucksack, which online showed ample amounts of room, but now, lying in front me, was proving to be my mission impossible! As the girl who would take 2 full suitcases on a week long holiday this was proving challenging to say the least!
Thanks to a few gadgets sourced in town and being slightly inventive the mission is now complete! I'm packed and ready to hit the road!!!!!
The nerves and excitement have kicked in and it's all starting to feel very real - I'm actually going away for 4 months. I've resigned from my job of 4 years (and found a new one for my return). I've said goodbye to those that I won't now have an opportunity to see again before I leave, visas have been completed and the iPod updated with my travel tunes!
So that concludes my first blog and brings me to this point - only one more full day before I leave on the adventure of a life time!
So now I bid a fond farewell to the island I call my home and all my family and friends. I will try my best to keep in touch with you all (wifi permitting of course), and you never know I may even resort to the age old tradition of a post card or two!
Till the next instalment...
