We made it to Santiago..left Puerto Montt Thursday night at 9:10pm and got into Santiago at around 9:30am. It's always hard to sleep on the bus, so we were a little tired on Friday but we did have an awesome bus! Eli and I got seats on the bottom level so they were fully reclining, there was wifi on the bus, and there was even a coffee maker conveniently placed right beside us. ;)
Nano picked us up from the bus station and took us to their apartment. Their nanny, Edita, was there with Anaís, and served us a great breakfast. Then Nano headed to work and we spent the day napping and trying not to relax too much! That afternoon Nano's sister and Max Bowman met us at the apartment and we all went to meet Noemi at the mall after work. It sure was special to get some time with Max, although it was a little short! He is Jon's companion right now, in the Villarrica field. He had dinner with us at Nano and Noemi's, then headed back to the house where he was staying.
Saturday was a lazy day. We didn't wake up until 9:30am and we had breakfast at 11am. Later that afternoon they took us to go see the Placilla convention grounds, about an hour away from their apartment. We got a great tour, and got to meet the caretakers. :) Grandma and Grandpa, they remembered you from when you came to help with the grounds and they send lots of greetings!
Sunday we had meeting at Wilfredo and Maria's home. Then we went back to the apartment and Nano fixed some fish that was so good...and mushrooms and potatoes..mmm. ;) Sunday afternoon we drove around Santiago and they pointed out some of the important landmarks, and we tried not to think about saying goodbye. But I guess all good things must come to an end. We had so many good laughs with Nano and Noemi (and Anaís too). We are already planning when we can go back and spend some more time with them. ;) So, I guess that's pretty much it, our South America adventures of 2013 are over. Ciao, South America!
Now Eli and I are sitting at the airport in Dallas. We had a 2.5 hour layover, glad everything has gone good on the way back. American Airlines has even been good enough to get a gluten-free meal on the way from Santiago to Dallas! still airplane food but no complaining from me. ;) Oh and the weather report says that Arizona has a really special welcome home present..record high, triple-digit temps. Thanks AZ, missed you too. ;)
