Today we spent the morning packing and getting ready to leave for the long journey to Hoi An tonight. We checked out of the hotel at 12:00 and headed to a nearby cafe for lunch. I managed to pick up a cheap book for the joruney from one of the street sellers in town - they walk from restaurant to restaurant with a portable bookshelf stakced high with books. It must weigh a ton and they all carry the same books, so once you've said 'No' to one, you've said 'No' to them all, but still they keep coming and today we walked past one at just the right moment!
Time for some dessert... we walked to an ice cream parlour that I'd had an ice cream from a couple of days ago and ordered an ice cream and an iced coffee each. We spent a couple of hours in there eating, drinking and reading as usual! Then we continued our day of scoffing with a very early dinner at yet another cafe, as we didn't know when we'd get to eat on the night bus.
Feeling completely stuffed, we headed back to our hotel and were picked up just after 6pm, with a 12 hour journey ahead of us on a 'sleeper' bus. It turned out to be quite different from the last one we took in Laos - there were three rows of single bunk beds, rather than the 'double' we squeezed into on the last one! Quite comfortable apart from the broken air-con which meant we were in for a sweaty, sticky night...
