ok so day 2 of our trek.
It was still raining when we woke up what a suprise! But after a lime tea and chocolate pancake for breakfast we felt a bit more upbeat. The clouds were super low though so couldnt see very much when we left.
Everyone separated after about 10mins and what a suprise we were at the back :). We took loads of pics today as we didnt get very many yesterday as the visability was rubbish!
Oh and as we were at the back and i was bursting for the loo, i peed in the Gorge. Good times!!
The walk was pretty flat for the first few hours. Some bits were pretty dangerous though. We were walking along a tiny little path and it was so cloudy you couldnt see the scary drop to the side but we were try not to slip and slide off the edge. For the record prob would not have made much of a difference if we had brought walking boots as everyone was having the same problem.
The worst bit of the trek today was the downhill bit at the end. Prob like an hour or so of sliding downhill. Was a bit of a knee killer. But we have defo decided we wanna do some more walking when we get back to England.
3 hours later we made it to the end point for lunch. Soaked through but soooo happy it had ended.... or so we thought!!
Due to the extreme rain there had been several landslides so we would have to walk for a few more hours. Laura especially was not impressed in the slightest.
When we got walking though, the sun came out and the views were amazing. It made the whole trek a bit more worthwhile as we looked at the stunning Gorge! Me, Laura, Dom and Sue were at the back taking pics when we came up to the first mini landslide. We were just casually walking by when a local man started yelling at us to run across it as it was still coming down. AHHhhhhhhhh we ran our asses off. That was a bit scary!
Then we could see the rest of our group up ahead being helped across a bigger landslide. Locals were helping us over the huge rocks. On the otherside we jumped into a mini van to take us to the next landslide. That was the scary bit. i was proper freaking out!! The road was slidy and made of gravel and the driver was just skidding down the mountain. huge drops on one side. Not good!!
We all got out at the next landslide so the driver could drive the van across. i did not even want to get back in. On the way down we stopped for quick pics of the rock where the Tiger was supposed to have leapt across the Gorge. The driver clearly did not want to stop so we only stopped for a few mins before diving back in the van. Was so happy when we reached the bottom :)
After a bit of a chat back at the guesthouse we were definately glad we did it but unsure if we would do it again as it was so hard.
We both agree that the Gorge was definately the hardest thing we have ever had to do, Both physically, mentally and emotionally as it was just so extreme in every way!!
But we made it yay!!

The second day from my perspective was good..to began. it was mostly flat..good photo oppurtunitys. we got to walk across mini waterfalls - and i was thinknign to myself that i could definalty do this again with my mum and dad.. and already planning what id buy from millets when i get home.. and potential english walks to conquer! i cant belive we wore trainers and survived the gorge. what were we thinking?? soaking and sliding all over the place. also i cant belive the walk went ahead in such extreme conditions. it was really dangerous. Dom skidded almost of the cliff. Tracy says it was good that visibility was at bear minimum at the top, beause we might be too scared to walk down. at some points we couldnt see 10feet in front of us from the mist! appenetly its the biggest gorge in the world!
When we got to the landslides.. omg.its so odd how something can change in an instant. from being this amazing, vast, beautifull gorge to a unerving, dangerous and unstoppable lanslide. at first it didnt really faze me, until we were helped over the massive boulders blovking the road.. not until i saw the frightend look in james eyes as we climbed in the van. i could see this look of understanding the danger and need to get out of the gorge quickly. thats when the worry just swallowed me. watching the other people in the car as well, anxious eyes, gripping hands, we were all genuinly shanken. its then that u wish u have someone to hold onto.
i had nicole. great. anyway we survived..yea! wont be gorging again
