We got up quite late this morning, about 10.30ish and decided to just rent the scooter again for the remaining time that we are here. Adam went to sort it out and then we set off to look for these rocks that we had been told about called Grandmother and Grandfather Rock which supposedly look like a man and woman's rude bits. We stopped on the way for some breakfast/lunch, the place we stopped at was pretty nice with a gorgeous view, we thought it wa probably out of our budget but we were there now and didn't want to say we were leaving!! The food was actually really good and didn't cost as much as we expected which was a bonus! Once we'd eaten we set back off to find these rocks, we knew they were somewhere near Lamai Beach and after a while we thought we must have missed it so we pulled in the a petrol station and asked where abouts on our map we were. We had managed to drive way past where we needed to be so turned back and set off again, when we knew we were somewhere near Lamai Beach we pulled over near a hotel as our map showed where all the hotels on the island were so could find where abouts we were. Luckily we were pretty close to where we needed to be so we found a car park and it had signs for the rocks. We asked in a cafe where we had to go to find the rocks and we were pointed in the right direction. There was probably somewhere better to park up as the way we had to walk was back like trekking in Chiang Mai, we had to walk through loads of trees and over slippery rocks, they even had installed ropes to help you pull yourself along. When we got there, the place was pretty busy and we saw the grandfather rock but couldn't see the grandmother rock, they were ok but the pictures we saw of them were a lot better than the view we had in person. The pictures we'd seen must have been taken by helicopter or something... We decided to go back to the scooter via the road, there was a little market on the way through and we got smoothies which we delicious! Turns out if we'd have walked the road way it was only 2 minutes away instead of all the beach and rock way but it was funny all the same! We got back to the scooter and decided to head around the island, we were gonna do that tomorrow but had loads of time left today. In a travel guide I'd read about a rum distillery on the island and we drove past it do decided to call in and have a look around. The woman there was really nice and told us all about the processes used to make the rum and how their rum is the equivalent of single malt whiskey in the rum world as they remove the first and last alcohols from the process just leaving the middle alcohol which is the best and therefore you don't get a hangover (apparently)... We tried a couple of the rums, I had the original rum with this syrup that they made which had sugar cane, cinnamon, nutmeg and other stuff I can't remember in it, she said the best way to serve it is with a little ice, 3 parts rum and 1 part syrup, it was really nice. Adam tried the coconut rum which was ok but not quite as nice. The lady said that you should never serve this type of rum with coke, if you want rum and coke then she said just buy a rubbish cheap rum... We decided to buy a bottle of the rum and a bottle of the syrup for the room, it cost less than a tenner for both which was good. The nice woman even gave us some leaves off of her aloe vera plant as Adam had sunburnt thighs from being on the scooter! We set back off on the scooter and continued round the island. We got to the ferry port which we had arrived at so we knew we were half way around the island, both our bums were so numb from sitting on the scooter for so long, we stopped for something to eat at a little cafe, I got chicken satays and Adam had a spicy chicken and rice dish, it was so cheap, for the food and 3 drinks it cost about £4! We got back on the scooter and headed around the other side of the island towards our hotel. By the time we got back I didn't think I would be able to walk when I got off the scooter my bum was so numb! We got ready and headed out for some food, Adam had spotted and Italian restaurant with a proper pizza oven so we decided to go there and just share a pizza as we'd eaten at that cafe earlier. Adam wanted a pizza with chilli's on but it would be too spicy for me so we got chilli's just on half, the pizza was really food but on one of my sliced there must have been some of Adams chilli, it was so hot it burnt my mouth off! When Adam got to his last slice he said his mouth was burning, he had got a super hot chilli and it was burning his mouth, it was so funny, he found it so hot he made me order him a cup of tea to calm the burning and didn't finish his pizza. He says that it was the hottest thing he has ever eaten!! When we left the restaurant we went to look for a live band, we found one but Adam said the bass player was so cheesy we walked on to find another, we came across an American diner which had a band on so went in there, they were pretty good, we stayed there for a couple of drinks. When we left we passed a massage place that was so cheap that we decided to get massages. It made us realise we were ripped off the first night when we got massages as these ones were less than half the price of the ones on the first night. The massages were so good, the lady doing mine really worked hard on my back and it felt awesome after! When we came out we could hear another live band that sounded good but Adam said we'd just go home as couldn't be bothered staying out.
