Today was our last partial day in Chiang Mai, we were getting picked up from our hotel to go to the train station for our overnight train back to Bangkok at 3pm. We had arranged to meet Gessika in the restaurant at 9.30 to go for a massage so we were up early packing our bags to check out before we went. We decided to take some laundry to an express laundry place just on from our hotel on the way, it cost 20baht for the machine and 20baht for the washing powder and would take about an hour or so, which would be perfect for us going for a massage. We got a tuk tuk and asked him to take us to a massage place. All credit to the driver he took us to some really lovely spa's and if money was no object then they would have been awesome but we had to keep telling him that it needed to be cheaper - we'd had a massage in Bangkok which only cost 250baht for an hour. By the third spa that he took us to we felt obliged to just go to it as we were only paying him 30baht for the tuk tuk and he was driving is round all over the place. We all decided to have an oil massage which was 400baht each for an hour, better than the first place he took us which was 1200baht each!! Adam loved his massage and said it was better than the one in Bangkok but Gessika and I thought it was totally average and the whole time I was having mine I just felt like she was just rubbing oil on me and not actually massaging! We got back to the hotel and went to pick up the laundry and disaster as the clothes were still wet but not even clean, we decided to just put them in plastic bags, separate from our clean clothes and do laundry when we get to Koh Samui. We headed back to the hotel and grabbed a sandwich for lunch then decided to go to the Tiger Temple which had been recommended to us. We got a tuk tuk who said he would take us, wait for us and bring us back to the hotel for 200baht so we got in and set off. The Tiger Temple was about half an hour away from the hotel and it was nice to just sit in the breeze of the tuk tuk for a while! When we got there, there was loads of different options of what tigers to see, there was baby tigers (up to 2 months old) bigger baby tigers (2-6 month old) medium tigers and big tigers. You could choose to see just one size, two sizes, three sizes or all four. It was quite expensive so we decided to just see two sizes and we chose the big tigers and the 2-6 month old tigers as that cost about 1600baht it was another 500baht to see the small baby tigers so we decided that the bigger babies would be fine. When we got in we had a look around and there was also a lion too, I wanted it to roar but it didn't... Once we were in there I wished that we had paid to see the small baby tigers as you could feed them with a bottle and they played with you on the floor!! We went to see the 2-6 month tigers first and we were taken in to the enclosure and got to sit down with the tigers and stroke them and have our photos taken with them, it was really cool. We then went and put our names down for the big tiger enclosure but we were worried that we would have to leave before we got chance to go in because we needed to be back for our train. Luckily we went in with about 10 minutes to spare before we had to leave! It was cool laying down and cuddling up to the huge tigers. We got some really cool photos! We got back to the tuk tuk and the driver asked if we wanted to go to a snake farm but we said we didn't have time as needed to catch our train so just wanted to go back to the hotel. When we got back we handed him 220baht (200 as agreed plus a 20baht tip) he then said he had said 300baht, which we knew that he hadn't but we couldn't be bothers arguing so we gave him another 80baht and just left. We think that he wanted to take us round to loads of places which he might get commission for or petrol vouchers but because we didn't he charged us more! We got out bags out of the luggage room and Adam wanted to order some food quickly before we got picked up for the train, the food just came in time but then the truck came early so he had to leave some of his food. We were on the truck with 4 other lads and with all of us and our backpacks it was a squeeze, I was so uncomfortable and my leg was squashed up against a metal bar which hurt but luckily it was a relatively short drive, about 15-20 mins to the train station. When we got there we got some pot noodle type things for the train and a smoothie which was delicious! We got on the train, sorted our stuff out and decided to walk down to the food carriage and see if it was the same as the other overnight train. When we got three, it was the same but they were closing the carriage because the aircon was broken. They would still be serving food but only to everyone's bunks. We headed back to our bunk and played cards for a while and when the waitress came to see if we wanted any food we decided to order these meal deals that they had for 180baht, we asked for it to come at 8.30pm and also asked for 2 beers too. When the food came, neither of us was particularly hungry (we'd been eating Pringles and nuts), the food wasn't up to much either, I picked all the meat out of mine as it looked more like dog than pork and I just ate the veg. The soup was gross and watery and the curry was just full of oil and too spicy. By this point we were tired too from our late night the night before so we both just go in our beds. Adam watched a film on the iPad and I read for a while and went to sleep.
