During the night I got up to go to the bathroom and the guy on the lower bunk next to me was sat upright in bed asleep, it was pretty freaky in the dark seeing him just sat there! We decided to go to both the Singapore Zoo and the Night Safari today so we got a taxi to the Zoo and booked the tickets for both as they are next door to each other. The zoo was easily the best zoo I have been to, they had so many animals and loads of feeding times. We saw the White Tigers being fed which was cool and loads of other animals. We missed the lion feeding unfortunately but they were so close to you that they were still cool to watch. The animals aren't kept in cages, they are separated from the public by dams and fences. I'm pretty sure the lions or tigers could jump over of they wanted to... We got loads of pictures that we'll put up eventually. But the zoo was so cool. They had a reptile house with a comodo dragon and loads of snakes including cobras and a huge boa constrictor! There were a few shows on throughout the day with animals but the only one we went to at the zoo was the sea lion show at the end of the day, it was was really good, the sea lion was so clever and could catch Frisbees and dance in the water and splash people on request, it was really impressive! After the show we went to the night safari to get some food, I got a curry (with no bones) and Adam got a noodle and seafood dish, it was ok but not worth the money really. The night safari didn't actually let you in and set off till 7.30 so we had a while to kill waiting for it to open so after we'd eaten we got a Ben and Jerry's Ice-cream and watched the fire eaters who put on a display to everybody waiting. When the gates open we went straight in and queued for a tram, you have to go round on a tram and there's certain places to get off and go to viewpoints. We were on one of the first trams to set off. It was difficult to get any photos as no flash is allowed so we just had to look. The night safari animals are similar to the zoo animals with lions and elephants but the aren't the same animals as they show them off at night when they would normally hunt etc. When our tram went past the lions one of the male lions was eating and the other male lion must have wanted his turn because he was roaring and looked to be getting angry! When we got to the lookout point for the lions we went and had a look and then got a drink and took some photos with the fake animals then got back on the tram. When we had been round the entire safari and got back to the entrance the Animals of the Night Show was about to start so we went to watch that. It was pretty good but a bit cheesy as they had hidden some animals under people seats and then pretended they had escaped and had everyone looking for them... When we left the show we hurried for a taxi as loads of people were leaving at the same time and we just headed back to the hostel. We booked our ferry and accommodation to go to Bintan Island tomorrow (on Theresa's recommendation) so we'll see what it's like.
