La Paz was a bit of a trek to get to...
We took a 7 hour ride from Puno to La Paz, which involved a cold, smelly, bumpy ride from Peru to Bolivia. The main part of the ride was ok and it wasnt until we got to the boarder that things became strange.
At the boarder we learnt that they don´t like American´s, as our friends were charged a 'visa' fee which no other nationality pays. once we left there we headed for Copacabana where we swapped buses and crossed the frigging lake.... might i had whilst still on the bus which drove onto the smallest wooden barge i have ever seen... there barge set off and off we went swaying and rocking the whole way, two times i honestly thought we were going in the water... there rocking was so much and scary. Once we got to the otherside we was greeted by the main bulk of passangers who had gotten off and travelled via a smaller tug boat across and waited for us.
We arrived in La Paz 10pm and went straight to our Point Hostel, which was spacious and clean.
we stayed two days in La Paz and visited the Witches market. We choose to leave and make our way to Uyuni so that we could get on and do the Salt Flats. The night we left La Paz was another big thunder and lightening storm, as we ran across the courtyard with our packbacks to leave, a bolt of lightening struck right out the front knocking out all the lights... its was crazy!
Our Taxi arrived and we said bye to Greg and Abra who were to make there way back up the coast to go home back to California (San Diego). The 10 hour bus ride became 11 and the last 4 hours were off road.... very bumpy :)
